KINGFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State police have arrested a Windham man and charged him with the murder of his wife.

Maine Public Safety Spokesperson Steve McCausland said that 33-year-old Noah Gaston was arrested in connection with the shooting death of his 34-year-old wife, Alicia.

Alicia Gaston was shot to death inside the couple's home January 14.

McCausland said Noah was arrested while visiting his mother in Kingfield Friday night.

The three Gaston children were at home at the time of the shooting. According to McCausland, they are staying with relatives.

"Every homicide investigation has its own timetable. Sometimes things are resolved in a matter of hours, sometimes they take days, and sometimes they take weeks and longer. In this case, it took over a week to formulate what we were dealing with, and based on all of the evidence that was seized, the medical examiner's information and consultation with the Attorney General's office, the decision was made to charge him with murder," said McCausland.

Officials expect Gaston to make his first court appearance early next week
