SANFORD, Florida (WESH) --Three people were arrested Wednesday on charges of breaking into a Sanford, Florida home where children were alone inside.
Diego Trujillo said he hid in a closet with his sister and his cousin.
"I was scared for my life," Trujillo said.
Trujillo said he heard a knock on his door and went to see who it was, but no one was there.
That's when his cousin saw a man peering through her window.
"I saw this guy outside at my window, and I was like, 'Oh my gosh. There's someone at my window,' so we ran in here, and we heard the window crash, and we locked the door," Trujillo said. "I heard some things getting knocked around, some cabinets getting opened."
While they hid in the closet, they were on the phone with 911.
Deputies arrived and immediately caught one of the robbers as he was leaving the house.
Neighbor Gil Nieves said he saw the other two robbers trying to escape.
"I saw them running through the field, and I hopped the fence to point them out to police," Nieves said.
A Seminole County Sheriff's Office helicopter eventually spotted the two robbers, and they were arrested after a brief chase.
