No, Portland did not distribute flyers about new parking regulations

Hoax flyers were distributed throughout the city detailing new parking restrictions and price increases for spring and summer due to "increased tourism."

PORTLAND, Maine —

Question

Are the spring/summer parking flyers distributed in Portland real?

The Answer

This is false.

What we found

Flyers have been circulating throughout Portland with a compelling parking notice, outlining new pricing and parking restrictions. The city has confirmed it is fake.

In a Wednesday post on X, the city stated the Portland Parking Division had nothing to do with the notice and they are removing the flyers as soon as possible.

Jessica Grondin, director of communications and digital services for the city, said it was most likely an April Fools' joke.

Grondin said the city did not plan to investigate the case, but she assured that parking control officers are removing any flyers they find placed on vehicles.
