BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --
The UMaine Museum of Art in Bangor made an exciting announcement today that will make the museum accessible to anyone who wants to visit.
The museum director announced that the museum will be able to continue to offer free admission to the museum for everyone throughout 2016 and 2017. This includes families, school field trips, and anyone who wishes to attend.
The museum is located on Harlow Street in downtown Bangor.
This was made possible by a gift from Deighan Wealth Advisors.
The wealth management firm has a history of supporting the arts.
They say that they see the cultural value that a free art museum brings to the city. CEO Jean M. Deighan said, "Art is really important. It feeds the soul. We know what a difference it makes for Bangor and for Maine. So, that's why we are doing this. It should be free for everyone...as free as the air we breathe."
