FALMOUTH, Maine — By now, most Mainers know that in the right situation, air source heat pumps can help save on seasonal heating costs. There's also a really strong case for biofuels such as pellets and traditional wood stoves that save money and are renewable. However, often lost in this conversation is the concept of tightening up/insulating your home so there is less overall demand for heat in the first place.
I met up with Colin McCullough from All-Around Home Performance to walk through a 1950s home in Falmouth. The goal was to identify areas of heat loss in the house and what fixes could be done within a reasonable budget.
