The Farmington Fire Deputy Chief, Clyde Ross, tells NEWS CENTER Maine that the fire started in a ceiling vent in a bathroom and that the fire is being ruled as accidental.

Nearly 45 residents were living at the facility when the fire began.

All were evacuated quickly with no injuries except one woman who went to leave hastily and cut her leg.

“By the time the fire department got here almost all residents had been evacuated from the building." said Mary-Jane Richards, Chief Operating Officer, North Country Associates.

There was barely any damage to the nursing home side of the facility.

The assisted living side has extensive water and smoke damage on the inside.

In addition to the Farmington Fire Department, numerous other fire departments came to the scene to help, with 55-60 firefighters on the scene in total.

The fire department shared that this was the first 3rd alarm fire call that Farmington has scene in a while.
