Senator Angus King 'I've gotta vote for Hillary Clinton'

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWS CENTER) -- One of Maine's politicians has made a decision in the 2016 presidential race.

Senator Angu King told CNN Thursday morning that he is supporting Hillary Clinton for president.

Senator King told CNN host Andrew Cuomo, 'realizing the incredible importance of the presidency, particularly in foreign policy, where Congress is largely abdicated, I've gotta vote for Hillary Clinton."

King said he had recently been part of a nuclear attack drill that led him to his decision.

'I went over to Andrews Air Force base... for a nuclear attack practice,' said Senator King. 'What got me, it was almost physical. In that situation, there is only one person. There's no checks and balances, no Congress, no Supreme Court no, no consultation. There's one person making a decision about the future of civilization.'

King continued, 'When I got off that plane... my knees were a little weak with that realization how much power is in this one person. And then I though about Donald Trump. It's a question of judgment and temperament. This guy has not demonstrated to me the kind of coolness that you need in that situation.."

King said Hillary Clinton's performance at the Benghazi hearings proved she could withstand pressure situations.

'Sitting at the Benghazi hearings for something like 11 hours, (she) never lost her temper, never lost her cool, never lost her patience, answered every question and was very solid,' said Senator King. 'I think most people, even people who were opposed to her felt that was an amazing performance. That's as good as you're going to get as a photograph of somebody making decisions under pressure.'
