GORHAM (NEWS CENTER Maine)— Republican candidate for Governor Shawn Moody won Maine's largest straw poll as Republicans continue to caucus around the state.
A campaign spokesperson says Moody received 53 percent of the total York County Republican caucus on Saturday.
Final numbers among the GOP leaders present and voting were: Moody 85, Mayhew 42, Mason 22, Fredette 7, Thibodeau 4.
Moody also won the straw poll conducted at the Skowhegan Republican caucus, receiving 56 percent of the vote.
A straw poll is an unofficial vote intended to show popular opinion.
Even with Moody's wins, there is no clear leader in the five-way primary race for Governor. Last week, Mary Mayhew won the Lincoln County Republican straw poll.
Candidate Mike Thibodeau told NEWS CENTER Maine he won the GOP straw poll at the Franklin County party caucuses.
Maine Democrats are holding their town and city caucuses on March 4, but party leaders have said they are not aware of any plans for Democratic straw polls at those meetings.
