District 2 City Councilor Spencer Thibodeau is running to be the next mayor of Portland.
The 30-year-old real estate lawyer grew up in Portland and is running on a platform of Together, we rise!
Portland mayors serve four-year terms. Ethan Strimling has been serving since 2015 and is up for re-election this year. Portland Press Herald reports that Strimling filed initial paperwork on Nov. 5 to raise money as he explores a possible re-election campaign.
“Portland’s best days are ahead of us,” said Councilor Thibodeau. “But politics as usual aren’t going to get us where we all want our City to go. We need new leadership that brings people together and puts Portland before personal politics. When we all work together we bring out the best and brightest ideas to help solve our most pressing challenges, whether it’s affordable housing, homelessness, or property tax relief.”
As city councilor, Thibodeau says he has worked to improve life for Portlanders, from issues like affordable housing to tackling climate change.
