FARMINGTON, Maine — David Mills, a brother of Gov. Janet Mills, died Friday at the age of 78.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my brother, David, whom I loved dearly," Gov. Mills told NEWS CENTER Maine in a statement. "He was a kind and generous person who dedicated much of his life to helping and caring for others in need. I will miss him more than I can say.”
David Mills was born in Farmington in October 1945. He returned to the town in 1963 to live with his grandmother and be her caretaker, according to his obituary. Farmington was where he lived for most of his life after his grandmother died in 1964.
Mills' obituary describes him as "a personable raconteur on many subjects of interest, a companionable conversationalist who loved history and country music."
"David had many hobbies," his obituary reads, "but most of all he loved the town of Farmington, where he will be especially missed."
