Manufacturing jobs are booming in York County.

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Legislature deals with very big amounts of money, but there was a full house in Augusta on Monday to support a comparatively small amount of spending.

Speaker of the House Mark Eves is pushing for a new job-training bill that would use $1 million per year for five years. Eves said his plan is for job training partnerships between the state and private industry to prepare people for jobs. Eves said the training would be tailored to meet local job needs different parts of Maine.

"And the number one thing we heard," Eves told the committee, "...is that we need to invest in workers if we are going to grow the economy."
