CASTINE, Maine — Rising sophomores and seniors at Maine Maritime Academy are prepared to set off on a 70-day voyage at sea.
It's the school's annual summer training voyage, which allows students to accrue time at sea and gain hands-on engineering and navigating experience.
The ship departs Wednesday, May 8 at 2 p.m.
The ship takes a different route each year. This year’s itinerary includes stops in Vigo, Spain; Barcelona, Spain; Portsmouth, England; Tallinn, Estonia; Oslo, Norway; Boston, Massachusetts; and Searsport, Maine. Schedule and ports are subject to change.
Well-wishers are welcome and encouraged to view the vessel’s departure from the Maine Maritime Academy waterfront.
