WASHINGTON — Heading to a concert or the airport? Uber riders will soon be able to reserve a seat on a local shuttle bus headed to high-traffic areas, the ride-share company announced Wednesday.

Uber revealed a series of new features, including the shuttle service, during the company's annual Go-Get showcase in New York City.

Uber Shuttle will cost "a fraction of the price of an UberX," and won't be impacted by surge pricing, the company said. Riders will be able to reserve seats on a shuttle bus as early as a week before the trip, according to Uber.

Once reserved, riders will get a QR code on their phones, which will act as their "ticket" for the ride. Each shuttle bus will hold between 14 to 55 seats.

The new service was piloted in Cairo, Egypt, as well as in India, where the company said it is "having a truly unique impact."

Uber will begin rolling out its new shuttle service this summer at select venues in Miami, Chicago, Charlotte and Pittsburgh. The ride-share app hopes to expand the service in the future.

Along with the new shuttle service, Uber also announced a student Uber One membership starting at $4.99 per month, or $48 annually.

The discounted plan offers $0 delivery fee, up to 10% off orders and daily deals on favorites like Dominos, Starbucks and Taco Bell.

Additionally, the California-based company is teaming up with Costco to expand their selection on the UberEats app. Users will be able order groceries, merchandise and more from the wholesale store straight to their door, even if they don't have a Costco membership.

Costco members will also receive a 20% discount on the Uber One membership.
