WASHINGTON — Actor David Gail, known for his roles on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and the "General Hospital" spinoff "Port Charles," has died at the age of 58, according to a social media post from his sister.
In a Jan. 20 Instagram post, Katie Colmenares posted a photo of her brother hugging her, writing in the caption that he was "always my best friend."
"There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side, always my wingman, always my best friend, ready to face anything and anyone (with) me," Colmenares wrote. "The bears will never be the same, but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart, you gorgeous, loving, amazing, fierce human being. Missing you every second of every day forever. There will never be another."
Gail played Brenda Walsh's fiancé, Stuart Carson, on "Beverly Hills, 90210" as a recurring face in season four of the popular drama, appearing in seven episodes. His character left the show after their wedding fell through.
"90210" director Peter Ferriero, who hosts a re-watch podcast for the show, said the program would rebroadcast an episode of the podcast where Gail joined to talk about his time on set.
"He shares fantastic stories of the cast, and also the behind the scenes of working for Spelling Entertainment," Ferriero wrote on Instagram. "He was a kind human that we will be missed."
Gail also played Dr. Joe Scanlon on "Port Charles," a medical drama spinoff from "General Hospital." He appeared in 216 episodes before leaving the ABC soap opera after a year, according to Variety.
No additional details about Gail's cause of death were provided.
