The cast of the original 1984 Ghostbusters will appear with the cast of the upcoming reboot on Jimmy Kimmel Live June 8 to celebrate Ghostbusters Day.
On the anniversary of the first film's release, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts will be reunited on Kimmel (ABC, 11:35 ET/PT), joining the new cast members Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
"Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together (will be) like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus," new Ghostbusters director Paul Feig tells USA TODAY in a statement. "This is an epic summit of some of the funniest people on the planet. Long live the Ghostbusters!"
Fans can join in the celebration June 8 by watching the 1984 film when it is re-released in 800 theaters nationwide, with encore showings June 12. The film will also feature a sneak peek of the new Ghostbusters, which hits theaters July 15.
The cast members of the original Ghostbusters are expected to have cameo appearances in the new film.
