Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Meteorologist Tom Johnston says...hope you have your snow tires!

We wait this weekend, in the deep cold, for what Monday may bring.

With most (if not all) Maine neighborhoods falling into the "plowable" snowfall category, your winter weather driving skills will once again be tested.

Along the southern coastal plain of Maine, some mixing is still possible.
Even if it doesn't mix, the snow to the south will get a bit "wetter" Monday afternoon, as milder air ATTEMPTS to poke into the situation.

I find wetter snow more difficult to drive on. It's "slick factor" is greater than dry powder snow.
We saw that with the last two events (only 1-3" and 1", respectively.
You see, it doesn't take much to get ya slip sliding away...
Any melting would refreeze as the storm departs on Tuesday.
We also saw accidents due to that refreeze element as well (with last 2 snow events) on roads that weren't treated/salted.

And if you don't totally have the winter weather driving thing down after the Monday/Tuesday storm, no worries.
Another storm is forecast to dump more snow Wednesday/Thursday.

Good luck, be safe...we're all counting on you. -- Meteorologist Tom Johnston
