Tragic York Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Local Resident

YORK, Maine — A York man has died following a motorcycle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon on Mountain Road, according to York Police.

The York Emergency Communications Center received several calls at approximately 1:04 p.m. reporting a motorcycle crash between the intersections of Groundnut Hill Road and Clay Hill Road, Lt. Nikolaos F. Piskopanisof the York Police Department stated in a press release.

Authorities said the operator, identified only as a 45-year-old male resident of York, was critically injured in the crash. He was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries, Piskopanisof said.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim until his family has been notified. 

The New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office is expected to determine the official cause of death, police said. Meanwhile, the York Police Department’s accident reconstructionist is investigating the crash to determine what led to the fatal incident.
