DAYTON, Maine — An East Waterboro man died earlier this week while on the job.

The Maine State Police Southern Field Troop responded to a report of a worker who was reportedly struck by a front-end loader shortly after noon Monday at Dayton Sand and Gravel, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.

An investigation revealed that 43-year-old Cory Maddox of East Waterboro had been walking across the yard of Dayton Sand and Gravel when he was struck by the bucket of a front-end loader being operated by another worker, according to the release.

Moss said resuscitation efforts were made but were unsuccessful.

OSHA is now investigating the incident.

According to Moss, there is no sign of criminal activity involved in the incident.

Maine State Police were assisted by the York County Sheriff’s Office, Wells Police Department, Goodwins Mills Fire and Rescue, Mine Safety and Health Administration, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
