Woman hospitalized following crash in Harrison

First responders rendered successful life-saving measures and the woman was taken by ambulance to Bridgton Hospital where she remains in "critical condition."

HARRISON, Maine — A woman is hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Harrison.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, deputies received a report about a single-vehicle crash on School Street, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Deputies responded to the scene where they learned a silver 2020 Toyota RAV4 had crashed into the rock embankment alongside the Harrison Fire Department.

The driver, identified as 58-year-old Debora McGowan of Auburn, was found unconscious and not breathing. First responders rendered successful life-saving measures and McGowan was taken by ambulance to Bridgton Hospital where she remains in "critical condition," the sheriff's office said.

There was significant damage to the front end of the vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Deputies said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Harrison Fire & Rescue and United Ambulance assisted at the scene.
