Westbrook police seek surveillance footage for shooting investigation

Westbrook police are asking that anyone who may have surveillance footage of the area between 11:15 p.m. Friday through midnight to contact them.

WESTBROOK, Maine — Westbrook police are seeking the community's help with an ongoing investigation after they received reports about a series of gunshots heard overnight.

Police said the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday, and they believe the suspect may have fired several rounds into the air while walking through the area of Spring Street, Bracket Street, and East Valentine Street, the department shared Saturday morning in a post on their social media page.

Westbrook police are asking that anyone who may have surveillance footage of that area between the hours of 11:15 p.m. and midnight that appears to show a person walking or firing a gun to contact Officer Carlos Gonzalez by emailing cgonzalez@westbrook.me.us or by calling 207-854-0644 ext. 2533.

Police also ask people to not touch any shell casings found in the area and to instead call the department at 207-854-0644.

Westbrook police said the area was "extensively" searched with support from a Portland police dog unit, and officials said they did not believe there was any ongoing threat to the public.
