WESTBROOK, Maine — An underground propane tank was struck in Westbrook on Tuesday, prompting officials to close Spring Street at Connor Drive.
In an 11:50 a.m. social media post, the Westbrook Fire Department said propane was "escaping into the atmosphere."
The fire department said Central Maine Power and other energy companies also responded to the scene.
Fire officials told people to avoid the area Wednesday morning.
The road reopened around 2:30 p.m., according to NEWS CENTER Maine crews.
