WESTBROOK, Maine — A woman from Limington is facing multiple felony charges after police say a vehicle she was driving hit a pedestrian in Westbrook.
The crash happened on Warren Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, Westbrook police said in a release Monday.
Police said an investigation found that the vehicle had drifted to the side of the road and struck the pedestrian, sending the pedestrian airborne and over the guardrail, the release stated. The vehicle then struck the guardrail with such impact that the guardrail sliced through much of the vehicle, according to police.
Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to a hospital. Police said the pedestrian suffered "very serious" injuries. As of Monday, May 13, police said the pedestrian was still hospitalized.
The driver, Racheal Delcourt, 35, was charged with three felonies: OUI that resulted in injury, reckless conduct, and aggravated driving to endanger.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be filed against the driver, according to police.
