WESTBROOK (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Police are searching for a man who they say robbed the Gulf Mart on Bridgton Road just before 8 p.m. Friday.
Westbrook Police Capt. Sean Lally said a lone male entered the store, displayed a firearm, and demanded money. The suspect was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered with a scarf. He then on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Portland Police assisted Westbrook officers with a K-9, and tracked the suspect to a nearby street where they believe a car was waiting. Investigators say the robbery is similar to a rash of similar incidents at convenient stores and restaurants in the greater Portland area, although no immediate connection has been made.
A shift manager at Corsetti's told NEWS CENTER Maine the gas station was robbed. She said she gave video from her store to police.
Corsetti's was closed as of late Friday night while police investigated.
A Subway restaurant on Prides Corner, less than a half-mile away, was the target of an armed robbery late last month.
