WATERFORD, Maine — A building attached to a home in Waterford was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.

Five area fire departments responded to the scene on Sweden Road.

The house was built in the 1800s, and the building that was destroyed provided additional living quarters, the Waterford Fire Department told NEWS CENTER Maine.

Firefighters were able to save the house, and nobody was injured, according to officials.

One person was home when the fire started, and that person was able to make it out safely, the fire department said.

Firefighters hauled in water from a nearby body of water to help fight the flames, officials said.
