UPDATE: Driver arrested in connection with double fatal Washington crash

LEBANON, Va. (NEWS CENTER) — Law enforcement in Virginia has arrested a man involved in the double fatal crash on Route 17 in Washington, Maine, on March 18.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office took Randall Weddle into custody Friday and charged the 53-year-old with two counts of Class A manslaughter and two counts of Class B aggravated OUI, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, which assisted with a combined investigation.

Weddle was identified as the driver of the tractor trailer truck shortly after the crash. His truck was carrying lumber.

Weddle's last known residence was in Tennessee.

Police say it is likely more charges will come as further reviews are made into the evidence gathered.

For now, Weddle is in custody in Virginia with no bail awaiting the extradition process to get back to Knox County to face the charges listed above.
