FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A man accused of shooting and killing a police detective has been indicted by a Fulton County grand jury.
Amanuel Menghesha is charged with murder, felony murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault against a peace officer, reckless conduct, criminal property damage, violating a family violence order and weapons offenses. A trial date for Menghesha has not yet been scheduled.
Menghesha, 42, is accused of shooting Det. Terence Green to death in the early morning hours of Mar. 4. Green was among several officers responding to a shots fired call at Menghesha's south Fulton County home. As the officers approached, Menghesha opened fire, striking Green in the head.
Green, a 22-year veteran of the Fulton County Police Department, knew Menghesha and repeatedly checked in on him and his teenage daughter. Menghesha's family members described Green as generous and caring.
