FAIRFIELD, Maine — Two people were brought to the hospital following a rollover crash in Fairfield involving a garbage truck Thursday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., Fairfield police and rescue crews responded to Norridgewock Road for a crash involving a pickup truck and a garbage truck, a news release from the Fairfield Police Department said.
Investigators said they found a 2007 International Garbage Truck owned by Bolster's Rubbish Removal of Burnham driven by a 38-year-old Knox man failed to stop at the intersection of Center Road and Norridgewock Road while headed west on Center Road.
The garbage truck struck a 2020 Jeep Gladiator driven by a 79-year-old New Portland man, and rolled partly over onto the passenger side of the Jeep, police said.
Both men were brought to the MaineGeneral Thayer Center in Waterville with injuries. Police said both were "listed in stable condition."
The investigation is ongoing with the help of the Maine State Police Commercial Enforcement and Crash Reconstruction Units.
