Treworgy Family Orchards voted best corn maze in the nation for third year

The maze, featuring Peter Rabbit from Beatrix Potter's classic tales this year, was voted best by USA Today's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards.

LEVANT, Maine — The corn maze at Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant has been voted best in the nation for the third year in a row.

The maze, featuring Peter Rabbit from Beatrix Potter's classic tales this year, was voted best by USA Today's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards, the orchard said Wednesday in a news release.

"Since 2001, Treworgy has crafted unique and memorable maze designs, with past themes ranging from Paul Bunyan and Winnie-the-Pooh to last year’s farm scene celebrating the orchard's 40th anniversary," the release stated.

Maze visitors this year are invited on a "whimsical journey through five acres of intricate pathways," according to the orchard.

The corn maze features interactive trivia stations throughout, as well as a 25-foot observation tower that offers "stunning views" of the surrounding maze and farmland.

"We are deeply grateful to our loyal customers, fans, and the entire Treworgy community for making this possible for the third year in a row," Kat Jenkins, maze designer and agricultural manager at Treworgy Family Orchards, said in the release. "Our goal is always to create a place where families can connect with agriculture and each other, and this win is a testament to the hard work and creativity of our team."

Treworgy Family Orchards was also named Best Pumpkin Patch in the nation for the second year in a row.

The orchard was founded by Gary and Patty Treworgy in 1983, and their legacy has been carried on by generations of the Treworgy family.

The orchard today features seasonal activities like apple, pumpkin, and berry picking.

This year's corn maze will be open Tuesdays through Sundays through the month of October.

"Special night maze events are scheduled for the evenings of October 18, 19, 25, and 26, where visitors can explore the maze by flashlight for an extra challenge," the release said.
