BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A handful of professional teams from the four major sports are still under fire for their use of what's being called offensive Native American mascot names.
Team's like the Washington Redskins in the National Football League, and the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball.
It's a sensitive subject which seems to be reaching the front office of teams slowly, but surely.
Earlier this year, the Cleveland Indians opted to change its primary logo from Chief Wahoo, to a block-c.
Not completely out of the picture…but a start.
The change has some Mainers revisiting the topic and the role that Maine high schools play in the controversy.
NEWS CENTER's Johnny Mehler takes a closer look.
