'The blood was from my parents': affidavit details Winthrop double murder

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — New details were released in court Thursday showing that a Winthrop couple killed in October died of stab wounds.

According to an affidavit, 17-year-old Andrew Balcer, now age 18, called police and stated that he had killed his mom, dad and the family dog. Both parents were found with stab wounds.

Balcer "indicated [to authorities that] there was a lot of blood," the affidavit reads, and told them that "his parents were beyond help and definitely dead." An officer overheard Balcer state,"I let him go or live," referencing his brother.

The affidavit also claims a handgun was found at the scene with "red/brown" stains.

A release from state medical examiner on Nov. 1 said the teen's father had 13 stab wounds to his chest and torso.
