Teen dead after truck-bicycle accident over weekend

ID=8920205WALDOBORO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – Waldoboro Police say one of the two teens struck by a box truck Friday night has died.

Waldoboro Chief says 15-year-old Tyler Wood of Rockport died from his injuries Saturday morning shortly before noon.

Officials say the other boy struck, 14-year-old Antonio Seccareccio, remains at Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Lincoln County Sheriff's dispatchers said the accident happened around 8 p.m. Friday on Union Road. 24-year-old Joseph Benedix was operating the Simmons Lobster Wharf truck that hit the two boys. Benedix told police he didn't see the boys in the road until they were right in front of him.

Seccareccio was taken to the hospital with a leg injury and then transferred to Portland. Wood was life-flighted to Lewiston then transferred to Maine Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
