CHELSEA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Maine State Police arrested six people on Friday after a stabbing led to two search warrants in the Greater Augusta Area.
According to Maine State Police's Instagram account, troopers responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Eastern Avenue in Chelsea just before 4 p.m. Friday and were able to locate the suspects involved in nearby Randolph at a residence on Barber Road.
Police arrested 20-year-old Tatyana Tomlinson of New York and 31-year-old Lindsay Traynum of Sydney.
Tomlinson was charged with aggravated assault and being a fugitive from justice based on extraditable arrest warrant from New York state. Traynum was charged with misuse of a public instrument and violating conditions of release.
The victim, 27-year-old Jasmine Swift of Chelsea, was treated at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and later released.
Police said Sunday they believed the stabbing was drug-related, specifically about money owed.
During the ensuing investigation, police said troopers located heroin and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle that was parked in the driveway at the Chelsea location known to be driven by Swift, the stabbing victim. They said this finding led to troopers conducting a search warrant on the vehicle and Chelsea residence.
Upon execution of the search warrant, police said more heroin and drug paraphernalia were found and confiscated. They said they discovered that the vehicle searched in Chelsea, driven by Swift, was registered to 24-year-old Courtney Peaslee of Farmingdale, who is Swift's roommate.
Police said Sunday that although Swift and Peaslee are roommates, Swift legally lives is in Chelsea, a residence which is owned by her parents.
Swift, after being released from MaineGeneral, was arrested by police and charged with unlawful possession of a scheduled W drug (heroin).
This led to another search warrant by police, a "high risk" operation at 36 Hill Street in Farmingdale — the residence of Peaslee — executed by members of the Maine State Police tactical team assisted by agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Police said the search turned up 12 grams of heroin, marijuana, cash from suspected drug proceeds and numerous amounts of drug paraphernalia that was indicative of drug trafficking.
They arrested Peaslee, 19-year-old Megan Woodcock-Upton of Randolph and 30-year-old Wendell Bazemore of New York state and charged all three with class A trafficking in scheduled W drugs (heroin). Peaslee was also charged with violation of conditional release.
