SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A juvenile has died while being held at a state-operated youth detention facility in South Portland.
The state attorney general's office confirmed the incident Friday, which occurred at Long Creek Youth Development Center. The exact date and time of the death were not immediately released.
Due to the victim's age and confidentiality laws, an identity was also withheld by officials.
The death is being reviewed by the state chief medical examiner's office.
Long Creek has a juvenile capacity of just over 160 with a staff of just under 200.
