Teenager sent to hospital after being ejected from vehicle in I-95 crash in Bangor

Police said the 17-year-old passenger was not wearing their seatbelt in the single-vehicle crash Saturday night.

BANGOR, Maine — A 17-year-old was brought to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Bangor Saturday night. 

Just before 11 p.m., state police responded to the crash on I-95 in the area of Stillwater Avenue, according to a news release from Maine State Police

A 17-year-old driver of a 2014 Ford F250 lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail while trying to pass another vehicle during wet conditions, police said. A 17-year-old passenger was reportedly thrown from the vehicle during the crash. The passenger was not wearing their seatbelt, police said. 

The passenger was brought to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in "stable condition" police said. The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing.
