SANFORD, Maine — A road closed in Sanford around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday as police executed a search warrant.
The closure was on New Dam Road at the Alfred Road and Bernier Road intersections.
The road closure was due to the subject's potential criminal history, Maj. Matthew Gagne told NEWS CENTER Maine.
Gagne later said in a news release the Sanford Police Department was assisted by regional special response teams, but no one was home when the search was executed at 148 New Dam Rd.
"Once the property was searched for any people, members of [the] Sanford Police Dept. Criminal Investigations Division conducted the search warrant for the property in connection with several burglaries in the area," the release said. "Evidence was collected and criminal charges may be pending."
The road reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Sanford police would like to thank the Sanford Fire Dept, York County EMA, and York County EMA UAV Team for their assistance.
