SACO, Maine — Police are investigating a shooting incident in Saco on Tuesday where one woman was found injured.
Saco police responded to Temple Street residence at approximately 7:44 a.m. for a reported shooting incident, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
Upon their arrival, police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was reportedly brought to a hospital and is in "critical but stable condition," Moss said.
A portion of Temple Street was closed as Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit detectives investigated the incident. Maine State Police are assisting Saco police, Moss told NEWS CENTER Maine.
"There is no danger to the public and the investigation is ongoing," Moss stated.
NEWS CENTER Maine had a crew at the scene.
The address of the Tuesday shooting incident is also where 25-year-old Saco resident Lorenza Labonte was arrested on Monday night, after allegedly killing 27-year-old Ahmed Sharif of Lewiston.
Police have not confirmed if the two incidents are connected.
Labonte appeared at the York County Superior Courthouse on Tuesday, where he was charged with counts of murder, assault, terrorizing, and violation of conditions of release.
If found guilty, Labonte could face up to 25 years or a maximum of life in prison.
