Bangor church preparing to serve more than 300 on Thanksgiving

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – A church in Bangor is preparing to serve more than 300 people at its first-ever hosting of a Thanksgiving Day dinner.

Volunteers at The Rock Church spent Wednesday delivering and preparing food, while others set up tables and decorated them in the main dining hall.

Matt Sanborn and Sunshine DeMarco, both of Chanelle Rose Management, spent the morning picking up pies from Country Restaurant in Corinth.

“I just hope this means that they know they have another place to come to be together with the community," Sanborn said. "I don't want anybody to be home on Thanksgiving day and not have a home-cooked meal."

Chanelle Rose Management is the sponsor of the dinner.

The meal is free and open to anyone. They are planning on severing about 300 people. Organizers say the meals will begin at 11 a.m., then run hourly from noon to 2 p.m.

The Rock Church is located at 1195 Ohio St. just south of Bangor's Colonial Pines neighborhood.
