York man dies from motorcycle crash

YORK, Maine — A man from York has died following a motorcycle crash Sunday on Mountain Road, according to York Police.

The York Emergency Communications Center received several calls at approximately 1:04 p.m. reporting a crash involving a motorcycle between the intersections of Groundnut Hill Road and Clay Hill Road, Lt. Nikolaos F. Piskopanisof the York Police Department stated in a press release.

Authorities said the operator, identified only as a 45-year-old male resident of York, was critically injured in the crash. He was brought to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries, Piskopanisof said.

Police were not releasing the name of the motorcyclist until his family has been notified. 

The New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office is expected to determine the official cause of death, police said. Meanwhile, the York Police Department’s crash reconstructionist is investigating the crash to determine what led to the fatal incident.
