WILTON, Maine — Wilton police have charged four juveniles and one adult in connection with a case stemming from Aug. 16 in which a boy was allegedly assaulted, threatened with a weapon, held against his will, and robbed.
In a news release issued Monday, more than a week after the report was filed, Wilton police announced the arrest and subsequent charges tied to the ongoing investigation.
Police said they received a report Saturday, Aug. 17, about an incident that occurred the night before at a mobile home park. The teen, who was reportedly visiting a residence there, and other apparent witnesses spoke with police, according to the release.
The 13-year-old boy, whose name is not being released, reportedly told police he was "assaulted with a weapon, threatened with a weapon, held inside a camper with no ability to leave, and property was forcibly taken," police said in the release.
Police said they obtained a search warrant for a residence at the mobile home park, where they said they recovered the property reported stolen by the boy.
The initial report cited eight juveniles and one adult as being involved in the incident, but only four minors and one adult were charged.
Suspects arrested in connection with the case include a 12-year-old from Wilton, a 14-year-old from Wilton, a 15-year-old from Wilton, a 16-year-old from Farmington, and 23-year-old Ty Looney from Farmington.
The five suspects have been charged with the following crimes, according to police:
- Robbery
- Aggravated assault
- Criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon
- Theft by unauthorized taking or transfer
- Criminal restraint
Looney received an additional charge of violation of condition of release relating to a domestic violence assault charge because he was released on a "deferred disposition for prior criminal conduct at the time of the incident," police said in the release.
Wilton police said the four juveniles were brought to Long Creek Youth Development Center. Looney was processed Friday at the Franklin County Jail, where jail records indicate he was being held without bail pending a court appearance.
Police said all suspects arrested in the case had extensive criminal records in Franklin County, but none of those previous allegations or convictions were tied to the case.
The incident remains under investigation, and Wilton police asked that anyone with information about the case or possible witnesses to contact them.
