Two people killed in Paris crash involving three vehicles

The drivers of two vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

PARIS, Maine — Two people were killed in a three-car crash Wednesday in the town of Paris.

The crash happened at approximately 8 p.m. in the area of 653 Park St., the Paris Police Department said in a news release.

A northbound 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 crossed the center line and sideswiped a southbound 2018 Dodge Ram towing an open trailer hauling two snowmobiles, police said. The 2004 Dodge then struck a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 head-on after the vehicle had continued traveling in the wrong lane, and the Chevrolet flipped onto its roof.

"The driver of the 2004 Dodge, a 57-year-old male from South Paris, and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 56-year-old male from Oxford, both sole occupants of their vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene," police said in the release.

Police are not releasing the identities of those killed in the crash pending family notification.

The 38-year-old man from North Berwick who was driving the 2018 Dodge and two passengers were uninjured, but two other passengers were brought to the hospital to be evaluated.

Route 26 was closed between Phillips Road and Paris Hill Road for several hours as crews responded to the scene. Multiple area police and fire departments assisted with the crash and traffic management.

The Paris Police Department continues to work with crash reconstruction aid from Maine State Police and the Oxford County Sheriff's Office.
