AUGUSTA, Maine — Augusta police responded to a crash involving a tractor trailer in the area of Western Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
In a social media post from the Augusta Police Department, drivers were asked to avoid the area of Western Avenue, Armory Street and Worcester Street.
"The east bound route is down to one lane due to an earlier crash," the post read. There was traffic congestion, according to police.
A tractor trailer hit a utility pole, causing it to collapse and knocking down electrical wires and a transformer, Augusta police Sgt. Eric Lloyd told NEWS CENTER Maine in an email.
The driver of the truck misjudged the turn, however they are not expected to face any charges, Lloyd said. Speed and erratic operation were not factors in the crash.
