PLYMOUTH, Maine — A shelter-in-place order that was issued Friday night in the Penobscot County town of Plymouth was lifted around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office issued the shelter-in-place order for residents in the area of Clark Road in Plymouth due to what they were calling a "critical incident."

The sheriff's office said shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday that the situation was active.

"An appropriate level of resources are on scene managing the incident," the release stated.

Neighbors in the area were being asked to shelter in place, and one residence in the immediate vicinity of the incident was evacuated.

The sheriff's office shared an update shortly after midnight stating that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted, and there was no risk to the public.

The agency also shared that one person had been taken into custody, though the details of the arrest were not immediately available. However, officials stated that the yellow flag law process was underway.
