Scarborough motorcyclist dies in Limerick crash

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

LIMERICK, Maine — A fatal motorcycle crash that happened Saturday in the town of Limerick is under investigation. 

Maine State Police responded to the crash on Route 5 around 1:40 p.m., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Monday in a news release. 

The motorcyclist, identified as 30-year-old Christopher Mannion of Scarborough, was traveling south when investigators say he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and struck a guardrail.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. 

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Travis Doughty at 207-624-7076. 

Maine State Police were aided at the scene by the York County Sheriff's Office, the Maine Department of Transportation, and the Limerick Fire Department.
