PORTLAND, Maine — A Westbrook man was arrested in downtown Portland Sunday night after firing a gun into the air, according to police.
Joshua Young, 38, was charged with aggravated reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Police said they received a report of shots fired around 7 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Preble and Somerset streets.
"Officers quickly responded and found a male matching the description in the area," police said in a statement. "The suspect was placed under arrest as the weapon was found nearby."
A police spokesperson did not say what precipitated the incident or the type of gun Young is accused of firing.
