LINCOLN, Maine — On Saturday morning, the Lincoln Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash, leaving one dead, and one driver sent to the hospital.
At 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 9, Lincoln police arrived at the intersection of Route 6 and Buena Vista Drive. Police said a passenger in one of the vehicles was deceased after receiving fatal injuries and the driver of the same vehicle refused medical treatment at the scene, according to a press release from the Lincoln Police Department.
The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Penobscot Valley Hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening, the release stated.
Lincoln police, the Maine State Police, and the Bangor Police Department are now reconstructing the accident. However, the initial investigation showed road conditions could have been a contributing factor, according to the release.
The names of the people involved in the crash are not being released at this time.
Police said drivers need to be mindful of black ice while traveling on the roads this winter.
Lee Road, located near the Lee Town line, is still closed, but Frost Street remains open, according to a Facebook Post by the police department.
Lincoln Fire and Ambulance, the Maine Wardens Service, and Lincoln Public Works also assisted at the scene.
