One person injured after being trapped inside burning mobile home in Bangor

The home was considered a total loss.

BANGOR, Maine — One person has been brought to the hospital for treatment after they became trapped inside a mobile home that was on fire in Bangor.

Crews arrived at the scene just minutes after receiving the call around 12:15 p.m. about a fire, and they confirmed a person was trapped inside when they arrived, Assistant Fire Chief Chandler Corriveau with the Bangor Fire Department said.

Emergency officials were able to rescue a 75-year-old male from the building and bring him to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment of severe burn injuries, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said. The male was later brought by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

A second male individual who lived at the home was not injured, Moss said.

Bangor drivers were asked to avoid Ohio Street, which was closed from Finson Road to Davis Road. Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes.

The fire was considered under control by about 12:26, with support from Hermon, Hampden, and Glenburn.

The building is a total loss, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal's office assisted by the Bangor Police Department.

No firefighters reported injury. The city issued an update around 2:30 p.m. noting that the road had reopened.
