Motorcyclist killed in Orono crash

The crash happened around noon Monday in front of Penobscot Valley Dermatology on Main Street, police said.

ORONO, Maine — Police are investigating after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash that happened around noon Monday in Orono.

The Orono Police Department took a report about a crash involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle at approximately 11:45 a.m. that happened in front of the Penobscot Valley Dermatology located on Main Street, according to a news release from the Orono Police Department. 

An investigation showed a motorcycle and SUV collided when the SUV was making a left turn into Penobscot Valley Dermatology, police said. 

The motorcyclist identified as 31-year-old Brandon Martins died at the scene, according to police. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The SUV driver was uninjured. 

Police said witnesses indicated speed may have been a factor in the crash, and no criminal charges are expected. The investigation remains ongoing.
