Man, 45, dies in single-vehicle crash in Arrowsic

The 45-year-old Arrowsic man's vehicle left the roadway and traveled along a ditch, causing it to spin and strike a tree on the driver's side.

ARROWSIC, Maine — A man has died after losing control of his vehicle and striking a tree Friday evening in Arrowsic.

Deputies responded to a report about a single-vehicle crash at about 6:44 p.m. on Old Stage Road, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

"It was reported that the vehicle had gone off the road and struck a tree," the release stated.

It was determined a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 45-year-old Jeremy Beane of Arrowsic was headed north on Old Stage Road when he lost control of the vehicle, according to deputies.

The vehicle then left the roadway on the right and traveled along a ditch, causing it to spin and strike a tree on the driver's side.

Deputies said bystanders pulled Beane from the vehicle and began life-saving care.

"Once rescue personnel arrived on scene they continued to provide care, however the driver succumbed to his injuries while still at the scene," the release said.

Old Stage Road was closed for about two-and-a-half hours.

Arrowsic Fire & Rescue and Bath Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by the sheriff's office.
