ALEXANDER, Maine — The Maine Warden Service is searching for a missing husband and wife from Alexander who were last in contact with family Saturday night.

The couple, 72-year-old Pamela Helmstadter and 82-year-old John Helmstadter, likely left their home on 26 Pine Tree Shore Road in Alexander on foot Sunday or Monday, Maine Warden Service spokesperson Mark Latti said Thursday in a news release. Their vehicles were found at their residence.

Latti said the couple’s one-year-old black lab Lucy is also missing, while their other dog was found outside the home.

Officials describe Pamela as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 120 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes. John is described as 5 foot, 10 inches tall, with gray hair and brown eyes. It's unknown what the couple might be wearing, according to the release.

Latti said the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the missing couple Wednesday night. Since then, the sheriff’s office, Maine Forest Service, and members from Maine Search and Rescue Dogs have been searching the area on foot with dogs and a Maine Warden Service airplane.

Officials ask that anyone who may have information contact the Maine Warden Service through the State Police dispatch at 207-973-3700.
