NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — Two people have died following a single-vehicle crash Monday morning in Somerset County.

Emergency crews responded at about 7:15 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash on Route 201A, also known as Madison Road, in the town of Norridgewock, Somerset County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell said in a news release.

Early investigation findings suggest that the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, which was traveling south in the area of Father Rasle Road, and crashed into a utility pole and several trees, according to the release.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Kyle Wyman of Madison, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger, whose identity was not released pending notification of next of kin, also died in the crash, the release stated.

Mitchell said neither Wyman nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Norridgewock Fire Department and emergency medical services from Redington Fairview General Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
